Waste in the environment is from failures in the end-life processing of products. Broadly these can be split into two categories
Managing Packaging Waste
Environmental harms occur after the value of the contents has gone. Once the product is no longer within the packaging, then the value chain has ceased and there is no longer any benefit in managing what happens next. The truthful reality is that, whilst the direct value of managing waste material is not apparent, the indirect costs of unmanaged materials leaking into the environment are enormous and almost impossible to calculate given many harms may not yet have fully manifested themselves.
Our 'SmartBin' is going to break the rules
No individual brand has the capacity to provide the system wide infrastructure for successful value transmitting identities (VTI) in a public environment. Our platform and products are the key components for enabling VTI as a service for all brands to act to change the model of consumerism into a much more effective, circular and sustainable model of product consumption and return.
- Inadequate disposal: Where the waste items from a consumer product are incorrectly disposed of either through not entering the waste stream or through entering in the wrong channel for a particular item.
- Inadequate processing: Where waste has been disposed of correctly, but the processes have flaws or where the waste was disposed of into the wrong channel and the processing cannot redress this flawed entry.
